Your first stop is the Colossi of Memnon, two monumental statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have watched over the Theban Necropolis for nearly three and a half millennia.
Standing over eighteen metres tall, these colossal quartzite figures once guarded the entrance to one of the largest mortuary temples ever built in Egypt. Though the temple itself has almost disappeared, the statues remain among Luxor’s most iconic landmarks, bearing witness to centuries of history, earthquakes, travellers, and legends.
